PIIC Departments
Engineering
The Engineering Department is responsible for the design, management, and supervision of improvement and maintenance projects to serve residents of the Prairie Island Indian Community and Treasure Island Casino guests. These projects include streets, parking lots, wastewater treatment plant facilities, sanitary sewer distribution and individual septic treatment systems, wells, water supply and distribution systems, storm water pipe and drainage systems, and street lighting. Staff ensures that projects meet applicable industry and engineering design standards, and advises the Prairie Island Indian Community members, staff, and Tribal Council on engineering issues. The Engineering Department also produces miscellaneous CAD drawings, and maintains records of construction plans, specifications, and survey information.
Some of the support functions of the Engineering Department include:

Plan, estimate, design, schedule, supervise, and manage Prairie Island Indian Community and Treasure Island Casino improvement and maintenance projects.

Represent Tribal interests and work with utility companies, State, County, City, and Township Governments on engineering projects and issues.

Provide assistance and oversight for Tribal programs, grants, and projects.

Supervise and manage BIA Road Construction/Maintenance Grants Program.

Supervise and manage the IHS Sanitation Facilities Grants Program.

Design, supervise, and manage Upper Island individual well and septic system construction.

Supervise and manage the Prairie Island Indian Community Elder Driveway Program.

Supervise and manage the Prairie Island Indian Community Home Demolition Program.

Supervise and manage the Prairie Island Indian Community Handicap Improvements Program.

Manage and update annual Indian Reservation Roads Inventory.

Serve as Tribal Representative on MNDOT District 6, Area Transportation Partnership (ATP).

Serve as Tribal Representative on Advocacy Council for Tribal Transportation (ACTT).

Serve as Tribal Representative on Red Wing 2020 Transportation Planning Group.
Serve as Tribal Representative on Red Rock Corridor Commission.
